About

Who am I? I am you, in a different body.

I go by the name Sandy and I currently live in Sydney, Australia.

Jivamukti is my lineage. This is the method that I have practiced and taught for over 7 years. I am devoted to my teachers Sharon-ji & David-ji and feel honoured to call myself a Jivamukti Yoga Teacher.

I grew up cross-continentally, spending my childhood in Denmark, where I was born, and my adolescence in Australia. I have always been a self-proclaimed music lover, and have long been drawn to theatre, visual art, alternative culture, veganism, queer culture and mysticism. However, as a kid,  I hated moving my body.

Enter: Yoga.

At age 18 I found myself in a new city, with few friends, and no career goal. Yoga was a curiosity that quickly turned into a passion, then an obsession, and – very quickly – my life.

Jivamukti Yoga, for me, is the perfect blend of creativity and structure; traditional and modern spirituality, which is why I love it.

I have had the privilege of studying with many amazing teachers: Sharon Gannon and David Life (my gurus), Jules Febre and Jessica Stickler (my mentors), Yogeswari and Lady Ruth (senior teachers).

I’ve learnt to teach the kind of class that I would like to attend. Therefore, in a class taught by me, you will experience elements of theatricality and atmosphere, art and ambience. My passion lies in creating an experience wherein the yogic teachings are integrated with the asana and the musical soundtrack. I’m interested in making the yogic scriptures engaging, accessible and relevant to modern life, without diluting the substance of the teachings. I also think it’s important to have fun, so I will probably try out some terrible jokes in an attempt to make you laugh.

On this site you can check out when I’m teaching regularly, plus any workshops or retreats that are happening. If there’s a certain playlist that folk seem to like, I’ll post it on here and every month I also upload a recording of a class I’ve taught, for you to practice at home.

Whether or not we meet in this lifetime, I hope you enjoy the rest of your life. It starts now.
